Asbach

You funny faced, striped friend

we love you and we depend

to bark at strangers and to growl 

even the mean man in the backyard

how you made him howl!

You bit him when he trespassed

as he jumped the fence without

being asked.

You let the kids climb your back to

no end, sometimes I wonder if 

you will ever mend. 

I come home from work and know 

who happily awaits, even when 

you stole food off our plates. 

Your stubby tail is always wagging

you are one four legged friend I don't

mind running behind
and you me dragging! 

I will always love you and buy you treats

and look forward to more chasing
